Oboe Inspiration
As a child, I was first drawn to the organic sound of the oboe as it soared through the beautiful woodland campus of Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. It was the sweet sound of lengendary oboist, Lois Wann playing an excerpt for her young oboe student. Ever since that July day in 1980, I was enchanted! Lois Wann (the first woman Principal Oboist of a Major Symphony in the United States) inspired me to begin my musical journey as an oboist as she encouraged my studies at The Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music. As you read on, you will learn about the journey.

A good musical foundation is so important for any oboe student. Whether you are preparing for a college audition, for your NYSSMA solo, or simply love playing the oboe in a chamber music ensemble or your local orchestra or band, I can help you establish a solid daily practice routine and inspire you to progress comfortably. I am currently accepting oboe and reed making students of all ages and levels of ability. My teaching studios are in Saugerties (Hudson Valley) and Forest Hills (NYC). Drop an email or give me a call and learn how to begin.
