Oboe Inspiration
As a child, I was first drawn to the organic sound of the oboe as it soared through the beautiful woodland campus of Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. It was the sweet sound of lengendary oboist, Lois Wann playing an excerpt for her student. Ever since that July day, I was enchanted! Lois Wann (first prominent woman Principal Oboist of a Major Symphony in the US) inspired me to begin my musical journey as an oboist as she encouraged my studies at The Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music.

A good musical foundation is so important for any oboe student. Whether you are preparing for a college audition, for your NYSSMA solo, or simply love playing in a chamber music ensemble or in your local orchestra or band, I can help you establish a solid daily practice routine and inspire your progress. I am currently accepting oboe and reed making students of all ages and levels of ability.

Save the dates!!! Allison Rubin Bitz will be performing Handel's Oboe Concerto in g minor with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra.

April 20, 2012 (8pm, Olin Hall, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY)

April 22, 2012 (3pm, Woodstock Playhouse, Route 212, Woodstock NY)
